Putting the Rubber to the Road
I read a post in another blog the other day that made me think a little. It was a post about some of the suffering that we all have to go through. It made the point that we all go through stuff so that God can be glorified, but I have put a little more thought into it and believe it has a real world purpose also. It also puts us in a place where we can help other people who may be in the same "dessert place" overcome the circumstances.
I have found that throughout most of my life there have been times where someone has come to me asking for advice about something. I'm sure you have also. Would you feel comfortable about giving advice about a situation you have never personally dealt with? Me neither, and that is my point. We all have our problems in life and need guidance on how to deal with them. Most of us would rather get that advice from someone who has been there before.
I recently had some questions about my spiritual life and needed some help, who did I turn to...who would you turn to? I found someone who, from my observation, had a first hand knowledge of the help I was looking for, not the person in my life who professes loudly to be an atheist. Now why did I turn to who I did? Because I knew that at some point in her life she has gone through the "dessert" I was in, but the other person has never experienced where I was and would not have been able to give the guidance I was looking for.
When we come to the point of putting Christianity to the pavement of our lives I have found that not only does that involve having a relationship with God, but also a relationship with other people who either have been where we are or will be coming through what you just came through. This puts us in a place to not only receive the blessings of God through other people but also pass along that blessing to the people "behind" us in the walk of faith.
The Bible talks about us being a river of life as wells as a fountain of blessings, I think I have found what that means.
Look around and you will see that we all go through the same struggles, is your life portraying the things that would make people ask you for help? If so good job. If not you are in the same boat I'm in, God still has some work to do with me.
