I recently read a book(in 3 days, a record for me) that describes in detail the life of a pastor and his "refining fire", this book chronicles his life from innercity poverty to the pastor of a very large church. This pastor lived under the weight of a passionless marriage to a woman with a totally debilitating illness for over 20 years.
I have given some thought to that situation. I have revisited the "till death do us part" line in the wedding vows and this man was able to, supernaturally I might add, do just that, and what glorious blessings the Lord bestowed upon him for it.
I have to also mention his 2nd wife (his first wife passed away due to the debilitating desease), she was born into a middle class home and fell into drugs, alcohol, and was touched by God and transformed into a missionary for prostitutes in India.
This book is the modern day story of death and life and a great illustration of the power of God to change people into what he needs them to be.
I don't remember the name of the book but it has spoken so loudly to me that the pastors name will never leave me. Look for the Ron and Susan Cox story, it will change your perspective....it certainly has mine.
