I'm Trying to Understand.

I'm trying to understand something and I hope that writing it out here may help, forgive me while I think "out loud" for a few minutes.

I'm looking into the whole Creation vs. evolution debate, the thing is the "age" of the earth by "scientist" is several billions years old and they can't tell us how it came to be. The bible tells us that God created it and biblical scholars have said that the earth is only around 6-8 thousand years old.

Now we know that when God created Adam he created him at a point of maturity in life, the animals that were created were not newborns, the plant life was probably already at the point of reproducing. Now if God has the ability to create a mature being, would it really be a long stretch to believe He created the earth itself with a few years of age on it already??

Ok now that we've settled that one let's look at the "fossil record". While I will not argue the fact that these fossils do actually exist, I will argue the same point about those that I did about the age of the earth. If, at the point of creation Adam had cut down one of the mighty oak trees God had just created would he have found the age rings inside the tree? I would venture to say yes. While God could have made the trees without the rings wouldn't it have confused man and his science for one of those trees to be cut down and the "unringed" portion of the tree be 2 feet across followed by the growth rings for the next few years? Same thing with the fossil record, if they had not been put there by God himself how would we know about the cycles that the earth goes through?

Just some of my thoughts on the matter. I have been watching the Discovery channel lately and it has been pushing the evolution myth lately!!
