As the Technology Grows

I am wondering as I sit here tonight if we have become so reliant on the government, physicians, and scientist to tell us what we need that we have lost touch with the inner person, the voice of common sense, the spirit that God placed in us all to determine what we need. I am reminded of this by my wife's reaction to any one of our children getting a fever. The first thing she wants to do is call the MD. In the old days there was prayer and waiting to see what became of the fever, many times the MD visit was unnecessary as the fever passed as a result of prayer. Now fever passes upon the "take two and call me in the morning" of a MD.

I have a question. Is it harder to live in faith today than it was in times gone by? I bring that question up because I have wondered this myself. Today we have "instant gratification" from microwaves, so called smartphones, the internet, instant medicine these things have polarized us to having our needs met here and now. We no longer know the blessings of having to wait for what we want/need. In times gone by we did not have instant anything, we had to grow your own food in the backyard raise our chickens for eggs, milk the cow before we could eat our Wheaties. Our physicians covered multiple cities and towns, if we needed him we had to go find him. Now we have food that is chemically and genetically modified, cooked with radio waves, multiple Dr's in town prescribing chemically engineered drugs, and shortening life spans. In the past, people, many times, lived longer than we are living today. The food we ate then was natural, unmolested, and "raw", the food we get off the grocery store shelves today have ingredients that we cannot pronounce, are chemically treated, genetically modified, and artificially colored.

I have to ask, if the God of the universe created the plants and animals that we use for food and medicine, are we really improving the quality of that food when we modify what the creator made? All my teaching through school and church taught me that God is perfect and made His creation perfect, what makes us think we can make it better?

Does anyone else see the correlation here?

I think I'm going to start purchasing more of my families food from the local market, I may even try to find a "family farm" to purchase from.

I realize that earthly Dr's are needed in some cases but, thinking along the same lines as the food issue above, most of the medication used today is labeled with all kinds of side effects. Many times the side effects are worse than the problem for which we are taking the medication, maybe we need to stop going to the pill pushers(M.D.s) and look to the great Physician a little more.

Has our reliance on God really waned to this point?

I am reminded of multiple biblical stories such as that of Abraham and Sarah. God promised them a son, Sarah couldn't wait for Gods timing and sent her maidservant to be with Abraham. Not God's plan. Finally, in Gods timing, they had a son. This is the spiritual history of man, God speaks a promise, man tries to speed the process up, fails miserably, then God not only fixes the problem but then delivers on His promise, in His time. Then there was the bleeding woman whose faith healed her as the result of a mere brush of Christ's garment, the Canaanite woman who came in search of Christ to heal her daughter, the Roman centurion who came looking for Christ's healing for his child, there are many more stories of healing both from Christ's life and the miracles done by the disciples after Christ's death.

The Great Physician is still working in peoples lives today, with the birth of 2 of my children my wife went through childbirth with no pain medications at all, with one of my children she did not even get the I.V. port that was "required" because, in tune with our prayers, we got to the hospital with in minutes of birth. I'm not claiming to be any more in tune with God than you are, we just stood on the promise of peace in a time of extreme discomfort.

I AM IN NO WAY SUGGESTING THAT I AM MEDICALLY TRAINED IN ANY WAY!!!
