Have you ever watched a small child when they see their father the first time after a long day at day care/school/work. I was amazed by my daughter's reaction when I went to pick her up this afternoon, the only thing that mattered to her at that moment was getting to her daddy. She came running up to me with arms outstretched and a smile that might as well have been a 1000 watt light bulb. I often wonder....
I was sitting in church one day back a few years ago and this man came up to lead the closing prayer, his prayer sounded something like the cross between a very formal speech and a eulogy.
"Our Father, We pray that you deliver your Grace and Mercy to us for the coming week..." you have all heard the prayer type I'm talking about, and I'm thinking "come on... That's not the God I want to talk to, I don't have a formal bone in my body" I could no more have a relationship with that persona of God if my life depended on it.
I also heard a different man come into the pulpit at a different church and had a Father/son discussion with God, "Daddy I want you to let every one have a good week....."
now I realize that actually using that informal of a way of discussing with God our wants and desires may look a little childish to some, but this is exactly the way Gods wants us to interact with him.
"I tell you the truth, if anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it" Christ says in the Bible. Now the way I read that statement, I don't see a bunch of little boys coming out quietly and all forlorn and down in the dump about things.
Now I am going to be asking for some thought here. When you saw your daddy for the first time in a long time did you go up too him in a down and dumpy mood or were you exited to see him? I believe this should be our attitude toward our God, our Father, our Daddy.
How do you greet your Father?
I think I have a new outlook on mine
